PETA Protester Confronts Pharrell Williams During Film Premiere

Image
A protester from the organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), disrupted a speech being given by Pharrell Williams at a Biopic Premiere in Toronto.  She rushed the stage with a white sign in her hand that read:  Pharrell: Stop Supporting Killing Animals for Fashion.  Pharrell was in Toronto to support his LEGO biopic entitled, Piece by Piece.   The protester directed a number of statements towards Pharrell and the audience concerning his role as men's creative director at Louis Vuitton.   "Your Louis Vuitton collection … Pharrell’s collection is made from their blood,” the protester shouted to the audience. “Pharrell stop torturing animals! Ostriches are being hung upside down, electrocuted with their necks slit.”   PETA is petitioning Louis Vuitton to stop abusing animals and using their bodily materials for the purpose of fashion creation.  During the protest, Pharrell made a pause during his speech and outrightly agreed with the protester.  "Ok.

Mindful Plants?

Image
We all know that plants are living, breathing entities.  Both humans and plant forms receive energy from the sun.  The main difference that separates humans from plants is photosynthesis; however plants and humans are dependent on each other for survival.  Plants helps humans to breathe by providing us oxygen and humans help plants to breathe by providing them with carbon dioxide.  This cycle of plants and humans being dependent or interacting with each other don’t simply happen on an ecological or biological level; it can also be on social, spiritual or cultural levels. Of course when it comes to foreign ideologies, there is always the need for evidence for those doubting Toms who are skeptical of that which is elementary or different to current knowledge or belief systems.  Studies have shown that plants can be mood boosters as well as reduce stress; they help to eliminate toxins and clean the air by providing us oxygen. Nurturing and caring for plants help people to be more compassi

What's in Green Lifestyle Organization's 2021 End of Year Blessing Bag?

Image
One of the main initiatives of The Green Lifestyle Organization is the Blessing Bag, a small-medium sized bag which is given out to homeless citizens and shelters in the New York Tri State area.   Sooner than later, we'll soon be launching Blessing Bags across the United States to areas that need them the most.  Too often, homeless citizens are almost always given low quality items or ingredients.  Of course, those experiencing situations where they are in lack are grateful to have whatever they can get.  The mission of GLO's Blessing Bag initiative is to provide food and personal care items that are certified organic, non GMO and free of unsafe and toxic ingredients.   Here are some of the items that will be featured in GLO's 2021 end of year Blessing Bag: 1.) Made Good Dried Crispy Squares  2.) Nature's Path Flavored Cinnamon Flax Oatmeal 3.) Yoogi Tea 4.) Seapoint Farms Dry Roasted Edamame 5.) Twinings Tea 6.) Uncle Bud's Hemp Hand Sanitizer 7.) Hello Fresh Review! Is it Truly Fresh?

Image
I've been inundated with advertisements and reviews about Hello Fresh over the past few years and I would always think, "what's with the hype for Hello Fresh? I'd rather pick and buy my own groceries." Let's just say that now, I completely understand the hype! I subscribed to Hello Fresh three weeks ago and have tried two boxes so far. The three words to describe what I think of Hello Fresh: I'm. Blown. Away.  The main feature that I love about Hello Fresh is that it takes the guess work out of preparing and planning meals. There's no looking for a recipe that interests you. No shopping for the items at the store. No portioning out of ingredients.   When you visit the site, you select the meals that you're interested in or that you'd like to try and voila..it gets sent to your door in a couple of days!  You should have somewhat of an affinity for cooking since you'll be making the meals yourself. Every box comes with large sized recipe card

It’s been almost three weeks since Louis Vuitton announced the passing of Virgil Abloh who was the creative director of menswear.  It was Virgil’s dying wish for the show that he was working on to continue.  His final show took place in at the Maritime Marina in Miami and was attended by his best friend Kanye West, Kim, Pharell Wiliams, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky and other fashion and music heavy hitters.   Virgil received a masters degree in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology and decided to take his place in the world of fashion. He was one of the first black men to intern at Fendi along with Kanye West and from there he went on to establish his own luxury designer brand, Off White.  He accepted the position of director of menswear at Louis Vuitton in 2019 and made history doing so as the first black man to hold this coveted position.  Virgil brought so much color to Louis Vuitton and this was apparent in his final show. Move to the side Yeezy! There’s a sustainable sneaker company on the horizon! With a motto such as “Love at First Step,” who wouldn’t run out to snag a pair? Allbirds creates running shoes made from planet friendly sources such as eucalyptus infused pulp, sugar cane and merino wool.  They are in the process of producing a natural plant based leather. Allbirds sneakers come in an array of colors, prints and styles.   The Women’s Wool Piper Mid (which I think looks totally rad)   boasts a price of $120 and has a very unique two fold half and half print going on.    This reimagined classic is made with merino wool fiber and is balanced at with a sugarcane outsole.   Though I’m not a sneaker head, I’m all for a sneaker company which keeps the safety of the environment as a focal point during its production processes.   Allbirds realizes that the fashion industry is one of the largest contributors to environmental problems.   They’ve set intentions to reduce their carbon footprint to zero b

Queen Elizabeth made a headlining address to individuals in attendance at the COP26 UN Climate Change Summit in Glasgow, Scotland.   The Queen spoke with a sense of urgency highlighting the importance of prioritizing the global climate change problem, essentially stating, “If we fail to cope with this challenge, all the other problems will pale into insignificance.” The Queen, dressed symbolically in green and wore a triple strand delicate pearl necklace and a beautiful diamond and gemstone brooch given to her by her beloved husband, Prince Philip.  She remembered him in her speech and his photograph was seen right behind her.  She emphasized that Prince Philip was a great respecter of the environment who shared his love of the earth with his children and grandchildren.
