Image
A protester from the organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), disrupted a speech being given by Pharrell Williams at a Biopic Premiere in Toronto.  She rushed the stage with a white sign in her hand that read:  Pharrell: Stop Supporting Killing Animals for Fashion.  Pharrell was in Toronto to support his LEGO biopic entitled, Piece by Piece.   The protester directed a number of statements towards Pharrell and the audience concerning his role as men's creative director at Louis Vuitton.   "Your Louis Vuitton collection … Pharrell’s collection is made from their blood,” the protester shouted to the audience. “Pharrell stop torturing animals! Ostriches are being hung upside down, electrocuted with their necks slit.”   PETA is petitioning Louis Vuitton to stop abusing animals and using their bodily materials for the purpose of fashion creation.  During the protest, Pharrell made a pause during his speech and outrightly agreed with the protester.  "Ok.

Book Review: Reach for the Skai by Skai Jackson

Image
All adult “big kids at heart" will certainly know who Skai Jackson is. Yes, I admit to being a past twenty something year old who would often indulge in shows like Disney’s ‘Jessie!' When I first began watching Jessie, (which was my younger sibling's favorite television show), I would always think to myself—who’s that cute little brown girl with the ever perfect head of beautiful natural kinky hair?! I had never seen a young black child actress like her who embraced their natural hair the way that she did! In her book, Skai outlined in great detail who exactly was behind her unique look (momma Kiya) and why she wanted her daughter to learn to embrace her natural hair. It was truly an honor to meet Skai at her “Reach for the Skai” book release event. I purchased two copies, one for my younger sister and niece. I’m always so ecstatic to see a young brown girl like Skai winning and am so happy to support her. Now can we talk about the beautiful book cover shot by Jessie Eng

BEEF AND MEAT FREE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT (BAMFEI) PLEDGE 2020

It seems as if our current climate crisis kind of just snuck up on us in a ‘holy green moly, what are we going to do’ kind of way?! Green child prophets have even come forward prophesying of the grave dangers that will come upon us if governmental leaders do not begin creating initiatives to counteract climate change. The emotional speeches, the large, cushy climate conventions and governmental meetings in cities such as New York and Paris have been useful in gathering the masses and creating some measure of awareness within our communities about our climate crisis. But what can we as a collective do now? Now that we’ve done all the talking, all the preaching and proselytizing, action has to be taken to substantially lessen our carbon footprints. We’ve seen cities such as New York and San Francisco, create long-term goals to become carbon neutral by 2040. Large-scale implementations of plans for corporations and cities to become carbon neutral will take several years, decades and

New Study Reveals Non Organic Cereals and Granola Bars Are Full of GLYPHOSATE WEEDKILLER!

A study recently completed by EWG (Environmental Working Group) found alarming levels of glyphosate on breakfast cereals and other foods from companies such as General Mills and Gerber. Glyphosate is a weedkiller that is produced by Bayer-Monsanto. Many of the cereals found to have troubling levels of weedkiller on them are made by food manufacturer, General Mills. Popular cereals such as Cheerios and Honey nut Cheerios had the highest amounts of glyphosate.
