What's so "Super" about Superfruits?

They’re exotic and they can often lean towards the pricier end of the monetary scale. They are touted and talked about by health fanatics and health police all over the world! What do fruits like mangosteen, acai berries, chokeberries, goji berries, noni fruit, blueberries, lychee berries, ligon berries and maqui berries have in common? These super fruits all have extremely potent antioxidant power. What makes them so “super?” Firstly, they are rich in anthocyanins, a class of polyphenol antioxidants. Polyphenol antioxidants can help to fight and ward off various inflammatory conditions. They have even been very effective in fighting various cases of cancer. Superfruits have the word “super” in them because their antioxidant content is much higher than the average fruit. Deep down, Mackey knew that this was not what he wanted for himself and he decided to break away from what ...

Mayor Bill de Blasio, Al Gore, Leonardo DiCaprio, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and Sting were among those in attendance at the People's Climate Summit. This ground breaking march took place on September 21, 2014 as a coalition effort to raise awareness about climate change and to urge government officials and lawmakers to take action on this global issue. Politicians have been warned repeatedly about the problems surrounding climate change. At the march, protesters spoke about the need for industrial nations to make the switch over to renewable energy. The seven hour march proved to be a unified and effective effort whose sole purpose was to awaken change within the country. People want action. The world is taking notice. Future demonstrations such as the People's Climate March will ...

New York Fashion Week: Kate Spade's Nature Inspired Collection

New York Fashion Week has come and gone just as quickly as it came! The runways were fragranced with the scent of blissful spring air as models sashayed down the runways. The top three collections from Mercedes Benz Fashion week Spring & Summer 2015 would have to be Naeem Khan, Oscar de la Renta and the lovely Dennis Basso. Oscar de la Renta painted such a beautiful picture of a dreamy, picture perfect spring day. With the romantic floral prints amidst green backdrops, you'd think you were laying in a bed of thick, fresh cut grass sniffing a row of tulips, daisies and alpine flowers. How, oh how, does Mr. de la Renta do it?! Naeem Khan's designs were gracious and bold all at the same time. Silky bow ties juxtaposed with long, sheer gowns provided all the glitz needed to feed the glamorous woman's heart. At Dennis Basso, we learn the rules of how to wear a bombshell faux fur in the spring time. With all that said, we have to give the Green Award for fashion to Kate...
