It’s Earth month folks! Happy Earth Month! This is one of the best months of the year where we spend most of our time giving back to our earth. It can be difficult finding 100% natural perfume companies and fragrances. After coming across a few articles over the years about natural or clean fragrance companies, the list is usually very short and there are only less than a handful that are spoken of. The truth is that there aren’t that many that are out there. Many of them are located overseas where standards and protocols for products designated for human consumption or usage are much more stringent and stricter.
Green News Guide has spent some time identifying natural, clean and sustainable fragrance companies in the USA and abroad. I've compiled close to seventy natural or clean fragrance companies. Many of these fragrance companies are committed to policies or missions that take into consideration the health of our planet. You’ll know an Acorelle scent by its beautiful bottle and jewel like topper. Acorelle is a French company that sells certified Cosmos organic fragrances and other personal care products. They were established 17 years ago. Acorelle’s fragrance process goes through a strict selection process of natural ingredients that are mostly organic. PART III: Clean Fragrance Companies
The term “clean fragrance” originated in the USA during a time when individuals started to become acquainted with the dangers of ingredients in mass produced fragrances and fragrance companies. The following companies are considered “clean fragrance” companies. This means that the company upholds certain virtues as it relates to the ingredients of their fragrances. They may use synthetic aromas and their fragrances may not be natural.
If they do use synthetic fragrances, the company should be transparent about the synthetic ingredients that are in their fragrances. The synthetic aromas that may be used should fall on the safe end of EWG’s ingredient database. Clean Fragrance companies refrain from using toxic ingredients in their products. These toxic ingredients are usually phthalates, parabens, and nitro compounds.
*****It must be made clear that synthetic aromas that are considered safe can still have harmful effects on the body, however they are considered less carcinogenic than harmful synthetic ingredients in mass-produced fragrances.
