The FDA has moved to finally ban Red Dye No. 3 from use in food and drugs in America.  Red Dye No. 3 was first determined to be a cancer causing color additive almost 30 years ago.  Studies conducted using labs rats found that they became inflicted with the disease after consuming large amounts of Red dye No. 3.  Thirty years ago, the FDA officially banned Red Dye No. 3 from use in cosmetics but left the door open for it to be used as a color additive in food and prescription drugs.  By January 2027, the FDA has ordered that Red Dye No 3 must be removed from all food in the USA and by 2028--from all drugs. Food Manufacturers Shiver in their Boots Red Dye No. 3 has mostly been used in baked goods, sweets and candies.  It is used by prominent candy manufacturers such as Mars Inc (Skittles) and Just Born Quality Confections (Peeps).  Food Manufacturing giants such as Con Agra, McCormick, Heinz, General Mills and Pepsi Co will all have to find alternatives for ...

Man Quits Veganism after Ferocious Dog Bite 😱 !!

Mariano de la Canal was the victim of a dog attack that left him scarred for life! 34 year old de la Canal was a vegan influencer who regularly campaigned on behalf of animals and promoted veganism to his 454,000 instagram followers.  He was so committed to the lifestyle that he essentially gave up eating meat.  When discussing his original commitment to veganism he said:

"I stopped being a vegan because a dog bit me, so I got angry and said: 'I'm campaigning for the animals, and then one of them comes and bites me,” he told Infobae.

“That's when I stopped being a vegan."

"The truth is that I campaigned for all that, veganism, vegetarianism, all that."

He felt betrayed by the Animal Kingdom

The date of Mariano’s attack is unknown but it really affected his views about his current lifestyle as a vegan.  He was hurt that this animal had carried out such a violent attack on him. In a bout of anger, Mariano swore off veganism and marched right into McDonald’s to order up a juicy burger.  He intended to get revenge for what the dog had done to him.

The excuse that he gave for heading into McDonalds after the dog bite was pretty surprising:

“But a dog bit me on the street and I said: 'Wow, I'm trying a lot for them and one of their pack comes and bites me'.

“So no, I went to McDonald's, automatically."

Mariano’s story reminds me of another famous former vegan and youtuber. Nikocado Avocado.  Nikocado and his partner, Orlin originally began doing vegan mukbang videos on youtube while living in Columbia.  Nick was never a victim of an animal attack; he simply struggled with the idea of not being “vegan enough” and had some concerns with the vegan community at the time.

Six years later, Nickocado looks the total opposite of his former vegan self.  These days you can find him eating for five or six in front of a hi-def video camera.  The sacrifice actually paid off as he’s become one of the most successful muckbangers on Youtube but it also came at a cost.

He’s discussed suffering from an array of ailments and one video even saw him experience a minor heart attack.

Veganism: A Huge Trend for Some

These once influential vegans turning their backs on veganism are prime examples of the fact that becoming plant-based or vegan is just a trend for some.  People can be blind followers of others and humans as a whole love to jump on bandwagons. And of course, there’s the ideology that what’s good for the goose is good for the gander! In the case of vegetarianism and veganism, it actually is good for everyone but it takes dedication and commitment to abstain from eating a type of food that you might be used to.  While Mariano’s case is surprising it is understandable. Getting bit by a dog is no fun and can even be deadly.  He did not deserve what the dog did to him, however, he shouldn’t blame all animals for the faults of one.  It was one dog that bit him. Hopefully, it was just his anger that led him to McDonald’s and he actually is planning to return to his former lifestyle.  Mariano, don’t let that one mean dog ruin it for all the other nice animals out there who are counting on you to help them.

The vegan and newly named “plant-based” movement needs real and dedicated proselytizers to carry out its work not bandwagon jumpers and trend followers.  The real plant based and vegetarian community are in this for life because many of us believe that we are doing a world of good by refraining from eating meat not just for ourselves but for the world at large.  We’re not flip floppers.   Many are called to do this work but few are chosen.  Will you be one of the few?
