Ginger Lime Wellness Shots (How To)

We've jumped into a new fall season and with that comes lower humidity, colder temperatures and increased indoor gatherings.  Have you already experienced a bout with the cold or flu? Has the change in weather got you feeling down and out? Hot summer nights are over and we're all forced to give welcome to more icy temperatures and wintry mixes. Now is the time to ensure that your immune system is in the right shape to fight and fend off any of those germs and respiratory viral nasties that you may come into contact with. The more antioxidants you consume the better off your immune system will be.  Ginger has a whole host of benefits for the body but most importantly, it is a supreme immune system strengthener.  This funny looking root is a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredient that can help protect against inflammatory diseases and fight off free radical agents.  It's an amazing natural ingredient that can also help to improve brain function where memor...

Hello Fresh Review! Is it Truly Fresh?

I've been inundated with advertisements and reviews about Hello Fresh over the past few years and I would always think, "what's with the hype for Hello Fresh? I'd rather pick and buy my own groceries." Let's just say that now, I completely understand the hype! I subscribed to Hello Fresh three weeks ago and have tried two boxes so far. The three words to describe what I think of Hello Fresh: I'm. Blown. Away.  The main feature that I love about Hello Fresh is that it takes the guess work out of preparing and planning meals. There's no looking for a recipe that interests you. No shopping for the items at the store. No portioning out of ingredients.

When you visit the site, you select the meals that you're interested in or that you'd like to try and voila..it gets sent to your door in a couple of days!  You should have somewhat of an affinity for cooking since you'll be making the meals yourself. Every box comes with large sized recipe cards which contain the recipes for each meal that you select.  The recipes are all easy to follow whether you are an experienced cook or not.  Most require at about 30-40 minutes to prepare and are done so over stovetop. I don't recall needing an oven except for the dishes with steak fries.

The types of dishes that are available are sub style sandwiches, burgers, soups, burrito bowls, pastas, mixed bowls, rice and veggie or rice and meat dishes.  The dishes that I absolutely loved are:

1.) The Black Bean & Charred Corn Burrito Bowl (tastes so much better than bowls at Chipotle, definitely a staple recipe)

2.)  Sun-Dried Tomato Spaghetti (Get your pizza fix! It tastes like pizza to me)

3.) Plant Based Protein Messy Janes (I can't get enough)

Honorable Mentions are:

1.) Garlic Herb Shrimp and Sirloin Au Poivre (I don't eat steak but family members enjoyed it).

2.) Brocc Out Gouda Melts

Individuals can choose from 2 or 4 person boxes that have 2, 3, 4 or 5 recipes for the week.  For a four person box the, average amount is about $110-$175 per box for 3 recipes.  For a two person box with 3 recipes, the average amount is about $70-$90. The price does depend on whether you choose Gourmet Plus meals which are $8.99 more per serving. Gourmet plus meals have more premium meals such as a surf and turf (steak and shrimp) or other meat dish. The selections of meals are fairly diverse. Preferences can be set to vegetarian, pescatarian, or meat and veggies.

Cons? There aren't many cons about Hello Fresh, in my opinion. The ingredients provided by Hello Fresh are all fresh and you make everything from scratch but items and meals are not organic. While I liked creating all of the dishes and found the process to be very convenient, I have to acknowledge that HF's foods are not organic. This can be a deal breaker for some individuals who prioritize eating organic most of the time. If this is you, Hello Fresh is not for you.

Now that I've gotten so used to the Hello Fresh Way,  I'm thoroughly enjoying it.  If you're a person who loves variety when it comes to eating and get tired of the same ole, Hello Fresh is an amazing option. I don't recommend things that I haven't tried or do not like myself. Give Hello Fresh a shot today and save $110 off of your first order by visiting this link: GET HELLO FRESH
