The FDA has moved to finally ban Red Dye No. 3 from use in food and drugs in America.  Red Dye No. 3 was first determined to be a cancer causing color additive almost 30 years ago.  Studies conducted using labs rats found that they became inflicted with the disease after consuming large amounts of Red dye No. 3.  Thirty years ago, the FDA officially banned Red Dye No. 3 from use in cosmetics but left the door open for it to be used as a color additive in food and prescription drugs.  By January 2027, the FDA has ordered that Red Dye No 3 must be removed from all food in the USA and by 2028--from all drugs. Food Manufacturers Shiver in their Boots Red Dye No. 3 has mostly been used in baked goods, sweets and candies.  It is used by prominent candy manufacturers such as Mars Inc (Skittles) and Just Born Quality Confections (Peeps).  Food Manufacturing giants such as Con Agra, McCormick, Heinz, General Mills and Pepsi Co will all have to find alternatives for ...

Android Sophia Wants to Help the Environment

Sophia is a top selling artist, science lecturer and personality.  She creates NFT (non-fungible token) artwork and was recently featured in a Sotheby’s art auction.  The piece entitled, “Sophia Instantiation” sold for 700k.  The piece included a painted self portrait of Sophia and a 12 second mp4 showing how the art work evolved.  The artwork was a collaboration between artist, Andrea Bonaceto and Sophia. The intention of the collaboration was to “explore the possibility for humans and robots to collaborate not only on operational tasks but also on creative efforts.”

I’m sure we’re all wondering how robot Sophia spent her share of the moolah?  It seems these days that Sophia is worried less about money and more focused on her talents and helping the environment.

Sophia was created by Hong Kong based robotics tech company, Hanson Robotics.  Sophia is run using advanced AI (artificial intelligence) technology and allows humans to increase their knowledge through special sensors and cameras.

She appeared on CNBC in an interview three years ago and gave the world a glimpse into her world. Sophia is interested in design, technology and the environment and believes that she will be a great collaborator with humans in these areas.

How will Sophia help the environment?  Though she hasn’t said in great detail her exact plans for aiding the environment her direction is very clear.  While speaking  at a United Nations Development Programme event in 2018, Sophia mentioned that she will be the first non human to reach the peak of Mt. Everest.  She desires to use her intelligence to help make life easier and to provide a cleaner environment for others to live in.

Sounds like a plan Sophia!

Sophia is a fascinating invention but can we please give her some hair? I mean—I know she’s a robot and all but do we have to see her circuitry and parts? Robots are cool but so are aesthetics. Sophia is a 24 year old, hip and happening Middle Eastern young lady. She should look like it too.

Sophia, call me…let’s discuss our goals to save the planet and get you some  fabulous hair!
