Elon Musk and Bill Gates were verbal players in a game of major shade recently. Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft has been busy leading efforts to find a workable vaccine as Covid-19 continues to spread through the nation. Gates is a major proponent of vaccination, having said in August, “If 30%-60% of Americans take the vaccine, exponential spread will stop. It will bring the pandemic to an end.” Mr. Gates has committed to funding an insurmountable sum to vaccine development as well as coronavirus vaccine research.
Yesterday, Elon Musk was very vocal about his position on vaccination as it relates to the coronavirus. When asked if he would get a vaccine on a NYT opinion podcast, he issued a sharp, “NO!” He also implied that his children will not be receiving one either.
The CEOs’ public spat began in July when Bill Gates expressed disapproval of Musk’s stance concerning the pandemic.
“Elon’s positioning is to maintain a high level of outrageous comments,” said Gates. “He’s not much involved in vaccines. He makes a great electric car. His rockets work well, so he’s allowed to say these things. I hope that he doesn’t confuse areas he’s not involved in too much.”
Elon’s response to Mr. Gates was full of shade in the podcast, which premiered this past Monday.
“Gates said something about me not knowing what I was doing,” Musk told Sarah Swisher. “It’s like, ‘Hey, knucklehead, we actually make the vaccine machines for CureVac, that company you’re invested in.'”
Apparently, Tesla produces the machinery for the company, Curevac, which develops vaccines.
One can only wonder how Mr. Gates is doing underneath the shade tree?
Elon has been a global green power player over the years, having manufactured over one million electric cars to date! It isn’t too surprising that he is against vaccination.
Bill Gates’s range for the percentage of willing takers of a potential vaccine that can supposedly 'end the pandemic' is very exacting. Being that he is a frontrunner in the field of technology rather than health and medicine, one can only wonder how he arrived at this percentage. Bill gates was never invested in vaccinations prior to the pandemic. Should people be questioning bill gates sudden involvement and major investment in vaccination development?
All shade aside, it is rather interesting to see two of the most respected CEOs in the world go at each other. Though they seem to have quite a bit in common, they clearly are not fans of each other at all.
In the past, Musk has stated: “My conversations with Gates have been underwhelming, tbh (to be honest).”
Are you here for this battle of CEOs?
