Elle's Hair-rific Adventures: My New Children's Book

It’s here folks, yes, it’s finally here! I mentioned in a previous post earlier this year that I was going to get the publishing ball rolling again. Elle’s Hair-rific Adventures has arrived I wrote this book a long time ago, way before there were any popular books that were centered on young female afro-heritage characters. It was during the year 2012, that I created the character, Elle and this story. Eight years later, little girls and boys can now meet Elle! It was my desire to create a character for young black girls whom they could see themselves in as well as their wondrous kinky hair !

Let’s face the facts…little black girls growing up may face trials when it comes to their hair especially if they have parents who do not instill texture and kinky hair appreciation within them at a young age. They grow up seeing popularized and normalized standards of beauty that do not look like them and as a result, shun the features and characteristics that they were born with! (Insert Elle here). There are a ton of grown black women who hate their kinky and afro textured hair and then there are those who do not know how to take care of their hair type. If only there were non racist kid lit available back then that promoted and normalized characters with other hair types and textures. That is why I wrote this book. To help stop the cycle of texture hatred and to promote diversity.

With that said, let me introduce you to little Elle. Elle is an adventurous little girl who loves the world and who loves her amazing afro textured hair. It's a book that all children, no matter the race, can enjoy. Read about all the activities that she gets into by purchasing a copy!

Make some room on your little one’s digital shelf and purchase it today to read on Amazon Kindle or in the Google Play store. And hey...if you're an adult, you can read it too! Show of hands for all the adults who like reading children's books! Hahahaha!
