How Halle Berry Weaned Herself off Insulin as a Type 1 Diabetic

Halle Berry is one of Hollywood's most well known women who has starred in many of box office topping movies. Halle Berry is an ageless woman. One would never believe that she will be turning 54 next month.

Halle was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and revealed her diagnosis to the New York Times in 2006. It was during the shooting of a television show in 1989 that she fell into a diabetic coma for several days after which she received a diagnosis of diabetes type 1. Individuals with type 1 diabetes are born with it but Halle believes that her type 1 diagnosis became a type 2 diagnosis.

Halle credits the keto diet for her good looks and for freeing her from having to take insulin.
"I’ve managed to wean myself off insulin, so now I like to put myself in the type 2 category," said Berry. The keto diet entails high consumption of fats and minimal to no consumption of carbs which leads to the body burning fat instead of carbs for fuel. Sugar can place the aging process on a fast track. Halle also stated that she limits her sugar intake.
Halle engages in body weight exercises along with other workouts such as yoga and pilates four to five times a week. She prefers to utilize different workout regimens instead of sticking with just one.

"I switch it up because your body gets used to the same exercises and you have to kind of--you know--trick it every six or three months," said Halle in a statement to ET.
