The Princess of Wales brings Awareness to Holistic Healthcare Upon Completion of Three Peaks Challenge

The Princess of Wales completed the Three Peaks challenge over the weekend.  The challenge involves a blend of driving and trekking through three of the highest mountain peaks in England, Scotland and Wales--Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa. The challenge areas cover 23 miles of walking distance along with a 462 mile drive between each peak.   The challenge is open to the public and many aim to walk to the summit of the peaks within 24 hours.  However, the trek is so grueling and extensive that only 40% of the individuals attempting the challenge are able to complete it within this timeframe.  It is recommended that individuals desiring to complete the Three Peaks Challenge engage in strength training over a period of eight to twelve weeks. New York Goes a Little Green with Plastic Bag Ban

Any one familiar with bodegas and grocery stores in New York knows about our little grocery bag problem! Okay, that’s an underestimation because it has become a huge problem for the state, especially when litter is taken into account. New York residents use 23 billion plastic bags on an annual basis, greatly contributing to environmental issues.





New York is becoming the second state to issue a statewide ban on single use plastic bags. This is a monumental legislation for the state which is being agreed upon by lawmakers within Senate. California was the first state to ban plastic bags in 2014, allowing businesses to charge 10 cents for reusable and paper bags. Governor Cuomo has set a goal to reduce emissions from our state’s generation of electricity and also desires to see a carbon free economy. He announced his Green New Deal in January of this year. Under this deal, it is proposed that New York will be 100 percent carbon neutral by 2040, ultimately eliminating the state’s entire footprint.

FDA Bans First FD&C Dye! Which Will be Next?

The FDA has moved to finally ban Red Dye No. 3 from use in food and drugs in America.  Red Dye No. 3 was first determined to be a cancer causing color additive almost 30 years ago.  Studies conducted using labs rats found that they became inflicted with the disease after consuming large amounts of Red dye No. 3.  Thirty years ago, the FDA officially banned Red Dye No. 3 from use in cosmetics but left the door open for it to be used as a color additive in food and prescription drugs.  By January 2027, the FDA has ordered that Red Dye No 3 must be removed from all food in the USA and by 2028--from all drugs.
